Features
Amazing Amounts of Gain
These photoreceivers provide amazing amounts of gain (up to 2x1011 V/W) while being simple to use, making the most difficult spectroscopy or fluorescence experiment easy. Their high-gain and low-noise performance is achieved by careful selection of the amplifier-resistor pair. A large feedback resistor provides the high-gain values, while an ultra quiet amplifier keeps noise to a minimum. These photoreceivers are sensitive from the UV all the way to the IR, giving you the flexibility to work wherever you get the most signal. Their 1-mm photodetector diameter even makes alignment easy.

Three Fixed Gain Settings
You can easily switch among the three fixed gain settings of 2x1011 (AC), 2x1010 (AC), and 2x1010 (DC) V/A. The two AC settings have a low-frequency roll-off at 30 Hz and eliminate DC drifts.
Battery Powered for Low-noise Performance
Powered by a single 9-V battery, these photoreceivers do not require cooling or high-voltage power supplies. Moreover, only a single coaxial cable is needed to connect the photodetector to other instruments. This elimiates ground loops, the most common source of noise. A non-conductive pad electrically isolates the case from the table, further eliminating noise pickup.
Using Filters and Optical Fiber
Newport offers accessories that can be used to attach a filter or optical fiber to these photoreceivers. To filter out unwanted background signals, a spike or band-pass filter can be mounted directly on the photodetector with the 1280 filter holder accessory. Model 1281 is an FC fiber adapter that allows an FC-connectorized fiber to be attached in front of these photoreceivers. Both accessories are sold separately and not included with the photoreceiver.
